Description
A handsome large Staunton style chess set in Boxwood dating to c.1900.The set remains in very good overall condition with wear commensurate with age and use. One of the bishops has a chip to the base (see photo), mentioned and shown for accuracy.
The box comes in it's original wooden box signed on the underside by the London retailer "Benetfink Cheapside London"; Benetfink had large premises on Cheapside from 1845 to 1907.
The king measures 3 1/4" tall and the box measures 8 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 3 1/4".
