A fabulous novelty ice bucket made in Florence Italy and designed by the Iconic Mauro Manetti. Made from cast aluminium and then silver plated, this example is in the form of fruit bowl / woven basket. The interior retains the original metallic liner to both base and lid. The underside is signed "FOND. D'ARTE FIRENZE M.M. MADE IN ITALY MOD. RIS." and the side of the woven base is signed M/M and Italy. Excellent vintage condition dating to c.1970 with wear commensurate with age and use. 7 5/8" in diameter x 7" tall. Graduating in architecture from the University of Florence in 1970, Mauro Manetti began his career working for design agencies and furniture manufacturers in Italy. He then founded his own design studio in 1977, where he continued to develop projects in lighting, furniture and decorative accessories. Throughout his career, Mauro Manetti has won numerous prestigious awards for his creations, including the Compasso d'Oro in 1987 and 1994. His work is exhibited in museums around the world, including MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Mauro Manetti is considered one of the most important Italian designers of his generation, with an innovative and creative approach to design that has influenced many industry professionals.
