Description
A wonderful example of a Victorian Scottish Tartanware thimble box covered in the Rob Roy tartan, complete with the original gold on black label and some decorative gold on black decoration enhancing the box's appeal.
The condition can only be described as near mint, with the inside revealing the original green velvet lining, in pristine condition protecting the original sterling silver thimble. The silver is clearly hallmarked for the highly collectible Chester assay office, struck in the year 1892. The makers initials are also clear JT & S for the silversmith's and Jewellers, John Thompson & Sons.
Excellent condition measuring 1 3/4" tall.
