Description

A fabulous example of an eighteenth century standish, having been professionally re-polished to gleam.
The stand has a handle to be held just like a chamberstick and opposite is a receptacle for a candle with a small desk bell that sits on top and doubles as a candle snuffer.
The central handle has four holes presumably for pens, two of the pots too have similar holes, I am unsure if these would be used for ink allowing the pen to sit in the ink while not used. One of the other pots is a pounce pot or sander and one other lidded pot.
A super early piece dating to around 1790 and miraculous that it has all remained together as a complete set. Excellent condition measuring 8" including handle x 6 3/4" x 7" tall to top of handle.
