Description
An absolute joy, this Scottish presentation inkstand / desk set in silverplate is the first of it's kind I have come by.The desk set stands on four curling stone feet and is topped with two large curling stone inkwells, a pen rest to the rear and decorated with two sweeps to the front.
The base is decorated with engraved Scottish thistles and the central cartouche engraved with a presentation personalisation "Kirkintilloch Curling Club / President's Prize / 1900 / Won by W.A Maitland".
The underside is fully marked for the Sheffield maker " George Wish" and signed by the Scottish retailer, Sydney Latimer, 70 George St., Edinburgh.
Just back from our silversmith's workshop where it has been professionally cleaned and polished, restoring it to it's former glory.
Excellent condition measuring 10" x 7" (foot to foot) x 6" tall to top of handle.
