grand antique antler horn sterling silver magnifying glass 1886

Description

A large sized magnifying glass, measuring 10 1/2" in length with a glass diameter measuring 4 1/2", quite grand.
The antler horn handle is finished with a solid or sterling silver terminal and ferrule both with a highly decorative repousse design, both hallmarked for Sheffield 1886, so Victorian in era. The silver also benefits from having the design registration diamond too (always a highly desirable feature).
The nickel framed glass is of course new, making it very usable piece, without damage, clear and with a good magnification.
A superb desk accessory in excellent condition.
