Description
About as grand as they get, this is superb large paper knife or page turner ready to grace the smartest of desk-tops.
The blade is made from a stunning piece of tortoise shell with exquisite markings and colours ranging from golden champagne to rich chocolate brown, all showcased by a bright and glossy patina.
The handle is made by one of my very favourite London silversmith's, William Comyns. The front has an embossed scene of a young Victorian lady seated under a tree in a rural surrounding. The reverse side has a delightful embossed foliate design with a bird. The handle terminates with what looks like an inverted crown shape.
The silver is hallmarked for London 1888. Excellent condition, measuring an impressive 15 1/2" in length.
