Description
A late Victorian / Edwardian era traveling chess set, in a beautiful Mahogany travelling case and unusually with a slide off lid rather than the more commonly found folding type of travel sets.
Once the lid is removed the interior reveals a playing board made from Rosewood and Beech squares and containing the complete carved bone chess set without damage. The red pieces are of course died bone.
A lovely highly collectible set in excellent condition (a couple of shallow scratches to lid). The box measures 7" x 7", the playing board, the King measuring 1/2" tall excluding peg.
