Description
A wonderful English butter dish made from silver plate and glass, the glass acid-etched with elegant English ferns and the underplate engraved again with a plethora of fern motifs.
The glass dish has a swing handle and a lift off lid, the underside of which is marked for the well renowned silversmith, Fenton Brothers of Sheffield, this mark dating to around 1880, making this a true Victorian example.
Excellent condition, the underplate diameter measuring 7 3/4" and the rim diameter of the butter dish measuring 5 1/4" and standing 8" to top of swing handle while standing upright.
