antique english oak polished brass cat chasing mouse letter or note clip c1880

Description

About as charming as they come, this little letter or note clip has a cast brass cat having just caught a mouse between it's paws.
The cat's tail is used as the push lever to release the sprung clip, not loose at all, with a strong hold.
The brass has been professionally cleaned by my silversmith, allowing us to enjoy this timeless treasure once again.
Excellent condition (one small chip to a corner of the wooden base - insignificant but mentioned and shown for accuracy). The wooden base measures 4" x 2".
