Description
A top notch example of a late Victorian or early Edwardian heart shaped trinket box made from a heavy thick piece of crystal beautifully cut in the ever-popular hobnail design with a star cut to the base.The solid or sterling silver lid is excellent quality with a deep repousse decorated lid surrounding a central vacant cartouche. The top left-hand side is a Dove and the other side another Dove in flight, quite adorable and very romantic.
The silver is of course hallmarked, for the highly collectible Chester assay office and the year 1901 together with the makers mark JD over WD for the highly regarded silversmith, James Deakin & Sons.
Superb condition, measuring 2 3/4" x 2 3/4".
