Description
A really fabulous example of an Artist's box created as an award from the Department of Science & Art in around 1860. The Mahogany box has a stamp on the top and the full original label on the interior of the lid.
The original paint blocks are all present and all in excellent unused condition, each marked by Charles Roberson and the colours labelled below the cakes. The tray lifts out to reveal a fitted compartment to accommodate the original ceramic palette, again with the correct matching makers mark for Charles Roberson, 99 Long Acre, London, again, this is pristine and looks unused.
Wonderful to be all original and complete (alas, no key). 9 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 1 3/4" tall.
