antique english silver gilt hair comb 1898

Description

It's been several years since I have come across one of these highly sought-after ornamental hair combs in silver gilt (gold over sterling silver), the majority are in sterling silver, so nice to have a gold one for a change.
Another plus for this example is the top quality silversmith who made it: Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders & James Francis Hollings -Frank- Shepherd.
The comb has a full English hallmark for Birmingham 1898, so a true Victorian example. Excellent condition, measuring 4 3/4" x 2" wide.
