Description

A really wonderful Regency playing card box, eight-sided in Rosewood and geometric inlay to the top. The central panel has the most wonderful hand painted vignette of playing cards; this is an early English Tunbridge Ware box dating to around 1820, Regency in era.
The box retains it's original and vibrant yellow paper interior, it's four turned bun feet, the paper on the underside and comes complete with a working key.
The box comes with two complete decks of period playing cards, very valuable in sought-after in their own right. One pack is by De La Rue and date to around 1820, the other deck is by Reynold's & Sons and date to around 1810. These two packs of very special cards really complete the offering of this sensational box.
Excellent condition, measuring 7 1/4" x 6 1/4" x 3" tall. The playing cards measure 3 5/8" x 2 1/2".
