Description

A fabulous example of a late Victorian travel chess set inside the folding Mahogany case secured either side with a brass catch. The box will travel without the pieces falling out of the board.
The chess pieces are all original, intact and without damage, hand carved from cattle bone, the red ones being died bone.
Victorian in era, dating to c.1890. Excellent condition; the board measuring 6 3/4" x 6 3/4"; the case when folded up measures 7 3/4" x 3 7/8" x 2 1/2".
