Description

A fabulous and unusual vanity jar made from English sterling silver with intricate and highly decorative repousse or embossed work interspersed by pierced or reticulated work. Through this pierced work, one can see the glass liner within and once filled would shown the contents.
The box comes complete with the original removal glass liner with a hand star cut to the underside.
There is a full English hallmark to both body and lid, for the highly collectible Chester assay office and the year, 1902, so early Edwardian in era. The makers mark is also present for the highly respected silversmith, James Deakin and Sons - John and William Deakin.
A charming box in excellent condition with a lid diameter measuring 2 5/8" and standing 3" tall.
