A truly exquisite Antique Victorian Papier Mache Jewelry Box by the creme de la creme maker, Jennens and Bettridge; signed on the underside and " Makers to the Queen" referring to Queen Victoria. Of course what makes this box an heirloom example is the stunning hand painted scene to the top, a very early hunting scene. The sides and back are beautifully gilded with red and green enameling. The box has been professionally re-lined on the inside with a Burgundy colored velvet with the large original removable tray and a further tray to the back with a full width being a padded ring bank.
