A really unusual late Victorian silver plated dish formed by two hands cupped together. I am not sure if this dish was for a particular use, such as for visiting cards. The handle is of naturalistic form with grapevine decoration. The underside of each hand is struck with the retailer's mark ( Pearce of Leeds and Huddersfield). The silversmith's makers mark is also present for the well renowned Sheffield maker of William Padley. Excellent condition, measuring 8" x 5 1/2" x 4" tall to top of handle.
