antique austrian cold painted bronze match strike vesta 1891 cat and dog

Description

About as adorable as they come, this Victorian bronze box features a wonderful dog leaping onto the grand piano to get to the cat on the top. The underside of the dog is marked "Geschutzt" (a patent mark).
The piano and figures are beautifully painted, As if this isn't enough it is actually a match strike / vesta; the lid lifting to reveal a gilded interior with a chamber for matches and a strike. The inside of the lid has an English design registration number which dates the piece to 1891.
Exquisite, charming and fun and in excellent antique condition. 4" x 2" x 2".
