Description

A scarcely found string box, all beautifully hand carved in Fruitwood in the form of a ball of string or twine.
There is a push button to the front which when pressed allows the hinged lid to be open and a hole in the top to dispense fine string or twine. I am unsure what the cutout is to the side of the box, at first I thought it would be for a small pair of scissors but I cant see how they would clear the side of the box.
A beautiful and interesting desk accessory in excellent condition, measuring 3 3/4" x 3 1/4" x 3". Late Victorian in era dating to around 1880.
