Description
A fabulous opportunity to purchase an entire suite of candlesticks / candelabra by the finest English silversmith's, Elkington and Co.
All the same design, with a fine foliate decoration, all hand chased. The two large candlesticks were clearly purchased in the late Victorian era to match the earlier candelabra to create this full suite which has stayed together for the last 140 years. They are fresh back from my silversmith having been professionally polished.
The suite comprises the pair of three branch candelabra, the top can be removed to have a pair of candlesticks. The base is heavily weighted to keep secure when in use. The base is where the full mark for Elkington and Mason can be found with the date number (3) for 1843.
The larger candlesticks have cast bases again signed by Elkington and Co. with a date letter for the year 1879.
An impressive suite, versatile and ready for use. The candelabra base has a diameter measuring 5 1/2"; the three branch spanning 14 1/2" x 4 1/2" wide x 17 1/2" tall. Once the candelabra is removed, as a candlestick it stands 10" tall. The large candlesticks have a base diameter measuring 6 1/4" x 12" tall.
As good as they get!
