A truly fine and rare desk-top compendium / inkwell made from hefty solid bronze with a magnificent patina dating to the Regency era, dating to c.1820.English in origin, of course the star of the show is the beautifully executed regal dog / lurcher to the top,
The lid lifts to reveal a fitted removable interior with two ceramic ink chambers and a central compartment for pen nibs, sealing wax etc. This removable interior can be lifted out should you wish to use it as a box.
Each of the four sides is mounted with a Ram's head and each figural leg in the form of a dog.
Excellent condition measuring 10 1/2" x 6" x 7" tall.
