Description

Without doubt, the very best I have ever seen and owned. This grand set of three graduated silver plated domes are all handmade, you can see the hand beating on the interior of all of them where they were formed by hand, amazing quality.
Of course, what makes these unique and stand out are the grand cast Eagle finials to the top reflecting the regal engraved Armorial Crest to each. Each crest incorporates an engraved banner "Spes Mea Christus" meaning Christ is my hope. This I believe to the family motto and crest of the Bingham family. These were clearly an important set, undoubtedly commissioned for a wealthy family.
Each of the domes is signed on the inside for Durand, Paris - for Francois Durand (active 1828-1874, 4 Rue du Mouton, Paris), I would date these to around 1840.
Covers this special make a spectacular decorative pieces on a large empty dining table or on a side table. Each has a hanging ring for wall hanging if desired.
They are a majestic set with the large size measuring 22" x 17" x 14 1/2" tall; the medium: 18" x 12" x 12 1/2" tall; the small: 13" x 9 1/2" x 9 1/2".
Excellent condition.
