Description
An exceptional and most unusual games / card box made from Rosewood and continental in origin (French or Swiss). The box retains all of it's fine quality polished brass mounts and the original thick bevelled glass lid.An unusual configuration, the lid lifts to reveal four counter boxes all sitting in it's original tray, each with brass mounts and reverse painted suits under glass (age to the white paint surrounding the figures, mentioned purely for accuracy).
The hinged doors swing open, allowing the tray to removed revealing the four compartments for playing cards, we have included four packs of modern cards to complete the offering.
Dating to the late Victorian era, dating to c.1860 / 1880, it remains in excellent condition. 9 3/4" x 7" x 4".
