A fabulous and extremely large jewellery box covered in a sensational piece of Crocodile / Alligator skin in a rich cognac colour with a good glossy patina.
The slightly domed top is inset with a heavy duty polished brass campaign style flush handle and the front with a brass escutcheon housing the original Bramah key; once opened, the lock is revealed, signed, Bramah, London. This type of lock is sprung and requires a push and turn action. The top is also mounted with a vacant polished brass mount, perfect for your engraver to personalise if desired.
The interior has been professionally relined to create a fresh and clean finish ready for use. Perfect for either a lady or gentleman, there are two versatile trays; the top with two padded ring banks which would accommodate approximately eight rings each. The second tray is very deep for larger pieces or would be good for wrist watches.
Late Victorian in era, it remains in excellent condition with minor wear commensurate with age; c.1880/1890.
