Description
A grand and very large example of a late Victorian / early Edwardian tray dating to c.1900. Made by the famous silversmith, John Grinsell & Sons Ltd, there is the mark on the underside (cupid with bow and arrow).
The solid English Oak base is surrounded by a pierced or reticulated gallery in silver plate, the two handles created from turned Oak.
Standing on four original bun feet and mounted with a large vacant shield shaped cartouche, the tray remains in excellent condition. One tiny split to the metal on the underside, insignificant but mentioned and show for accuracy.
This impressive example spans 27 1/2 " handle to handle; the tray itself measuring 24" x 16" x 3" tall.
