Description

An absolutely charming and unusual novelty table cruet made from English silver plate with a full signature on the underside for the well renowned silversmith, Fenton Brothers of Sheffield.
The naturalistic frame with it's integral handle holds the two cut crystal components (one mustard pot with spoon and one pepperette). To the front is the open salt in the form of a birds nest with a glided interior; the bird (I think a Wren) with a leaf in his beak, still building the nest.
Victorian in era, dating to c.1880, it remains in excellent condition. 6" wide x 4" deep x 6" tall.
