Description

A sensational writing box dating to around 1815, so going on 200 years old. Everything about this exquisite example is quality.
The box is made from exotic and very expensive Rosewood with it's decorative graining and attractive rich colouring. The top is beautifully inlaid with attractive polished brass including a central plaque acting as a cartouche, which could be engraved if desired.
The size of the piece is larger than similar examples, deeper than most. The box has a top-notch Bramah lock a sign of real quality and complete with a key which we have had a key made (these keys are like gold dust and extremely expensive to replace, but we have taken care of this).
The interior has various compartments including a removable pen tray, a beautifully brass inlaid compartment, two large square Rosewood lidded compartments and two inkwells.
The leather is original, a beautiful period colour with very fine gold embossed tooling . The top section opens to reveal a large storage compartment.
Superb in every way in excellent condition, measuring 15" wide x 11" deep x 3 3/4" tall at rear.
