Description

A top quality example of an early Edwardian cheroot or cigar box made from sterling silver with the original bevelled glass lid protected the hand-coloured George Wright print titled "In For The Kill", beautifully executed. George Wright was a renowned Victorian sporting scene artist who was an exhibitor at the Royal Academy, London in 1892.
The box opens to reveal a cedar lined interior with a removable divider allowing for larger cigars to be laid horizontally, the maximum full width measuring 5 3/4" x 3 5/8".
The silver is fully hallmarked for London 1901 together with the makers mark, I believe for William Hornby. The base is weighted for a stability, this is a very heavy and solid example measuring 6 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 2 3/8" tall.
