Description

A magnificent French late nineteenth century Malachite jewelry box dating to c.1890 / 1900, one of the best examples I have come across.
The Malachite during this era was aggressively mined in the Ural Mountains of Russia so I suspect the this stone to be of Russian origin.
The beautiful mounts are made from bronze dore or gilded bronze.
The box opens to reveal a polished brass interior to the lid and a deep green velvet padded base.
An heirloom box in excellent condition; the footprint measures 10 3/4" x 7 1/4" x 4 1/4" tall.
