A most unusual item, something I haven't come across before, always makes it a special find. A spoon rest made from English silver plate made for a large serving spoon terminating in a winged angel figure, the handle of the spoon resting between the wings. The bowl rest has a removable drainer and the fluted bowl below to collect and drips; the bowl is supported by three seated reading cherub or putti figures. The entire stand sits on a series of five little bun feet. The underside has a wonderful maker's mark and numbered "77" presumably a limited edition of these were made and each individually numbered. The shield reads "The Spoon Rest / Robert's Patent / Charles Pomeroy Button / Proprietor / 142 & 143 Cheapside / London / Manufactured by Howes & Browett Birmingham / Birmingham / No 77".
