Extremely hard to find, these German made mechanical bells with the faux Cellulose tortoiseshell tops (often mis-catalogued as genuine) are often damaged and incomplete.
The simulation of the shell, the colours, the patterning and finish is extremely well executed, looking realistic.
The underside is where the bell is wound up and both the head or tail can be pressed to create an authoritative ring.
Excellent working order dating to c.1920. 5 3/4" x 3 1/4" x 2" tall.
