Description

Probably the finest of it's kind I have come across, this wonderful Victorian toast rack having dividers spelling out TOAST. More unusual, with pierced or reticulated detail and hand-engraved decoration. The rack stands on four handsome feet.
The underside shows the quality of construction with the original fasteners securing everything in place. This piece is lucky enough to have an English design registration diamond-shaped lozenge which allows us to date the design of this piece to 7th June 1880. The makers mark within a shied is worn but I would suspect, given the shield, it was possibly made by John Grinsell & Sons.
Excellent condition measuring 6 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 5 3/4" tall.
