Description

An outstanding late Victorian Jewellery box or case made from a top quality crocodile / alligator skin, in excellent condition with a rich cognac colour and a bright, glossy patina.
The top of the box has the original highly-decorative monogram which adds to it's appeal.
The box opens to reveal the original fully-fitted interior with a front removable tray and two cantilevered trays to reveal a further large compartment below, there are minor marks to the velvet consistent with age and use.
The box is gold stamped with the famous retailer's signature, "J.C. Vickery, Regent St. W".
John Collard Vickery opened in London’s Regent Street in 1890 selling luxury leather goods and jewellery. It is a historic and prestigious brand which held over 10 European Royal Warrants to including: The King and Queen of England (Edward VII and Alexandra), The Kings of Portugal, Spain, Sweden, the King and Queen of Denmark, the Queen of Norway and the Prince and Princess of Schleswig Holstein.
A very fine specimen in excellent condition measuring 15 1/4" x 9 1/2" x 3 1/4".
