About as charming as they get, this French inkwell is beautifully cast in spelter a zinc / lead alloy which ages to resemble bronze.
The subject couldn't be more collectable with two French Bulldogs chasing a Bee behind the ink chamber. The lidded chamber lifts to reveal a ceramic ink pot (chip to side). The naturalistic base is signed by the artist, E Samson, a Dutch Artist. This piece dating to c.1940.
A beautiful heavy piece in excellent condition measuring 7 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 5 1/8" tall.
