antique english sterling silver bridge playing card box 1904

Description

A handsome Edwardian playing card / games box in solid English silver, hallmarked for Chester 1904 together with the maker's mark for the well renowned silversmith, Stokes and Ireland Ltd.
The domed pillow top is mounted with the word Bridge. The lid opens to reveal a lavishly original gilded interior; the front falls to reveal the contents, two complete packs of playing cards, four unused gold pencils, unused score pads and two books "Laws of Contract Bridge"; one dated 1948 and the other, 1963.
Excellent condition with very minor wear commensurate with age measuring 5 3/4" x 3 3/4" x 2".
