Made from solid English sterling silver, it is fixed with four castors on the underside, allowing it to be passed along a table top to present a cigar, it accommodates a long cigar each side of the caddy. There is a large three-size cigar cutter to the front which works be depressing the entire front piece. In front of this is a match holder and a trough in front for spent matches. The rear section has a spirit lighter with two wands for taking the light from the central flame to light the cigar. The silver is fully hallmarked for London 1884, a true Victorian example. The makers mark is also present for the top-notch Mayfair silversmith / retailer of Thornhill & Co. (Walter Thornhill) of New Bond Street, London. A spectacular and highly collectable piece in excellent condition measuring 9 1/4" x 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" tall at rear.
