Description

A rare and highly sought-after piece of luxury silver plated Christofle in the Laque de Chine line; a masterpiece from Christofle’s iconic Talisman collection. Designed by Bernard Yot in 1986, this line is widely considered one of the pinnacle achievements in modern French silversmithing due to its demanding, labour-intensive production technique.
The handles are seamlessly integrated into the structural silver frame of the tray, typically featuring the signature Art Deco "ribbed" or stepped profiling characteristic of the Talisman line; The Sienna (or Sienne in French) colourway of the handles is a deep, warm, reddish-brown earth tone that mimics the look of classic antique tortoiseshell or fine carnelian stone.
Because the Talisman lacquer hollowware pieces (like trays, ice buckets, and coffee services) were extraordinarily expensive to produce, they were manufactured in far fewer numbers than the standard Talisman flatware.
Just back from our silversmith's workshop where it has been professionally cleaned and polished restoring it to it's former glory (a minuscule little dint can been seen if looking closely, mentioned purely for accuracy). Excellent condition dating to c.1980's measuring 18 3/4" handle to handle or 16 1/2" x 12 1/2" x 1 5/8" to top of handles.
