Description
A handsome desk-top double inkwell made from a hefty piece of glass beautifully hand-but on the underside in the ever=popular hobnail design. The top is cut with channels, the front or rear for a dip pen and side channels perfect for storing spare pen nibs.The collars and hinged lids are made from solid English fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1907, Edwardian in era together with the makers mark for Britton, Gould & Co.
Lovely condition with minimal wear commensurate with age and use. 4 1/2" x 2 1/4" x 1 7/8". Pen not included.
Britton Gould & Co. was a notable British silversmith and luxury goods manufacturer active during the early 20th century, established by Walter Hastler Britton and Edward Havelock Gould.
The company maintained a high-profile showroom in London's prestigious Hatton Garden jewellery district while manufacturing their goods in both London and Birmingham.
