Description
A rather special solid silver box with a shaped body and engine turned lid. This box was made as a commemorative piece for the late Queen Elizabeth II silver jubilee in 1977.The Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee mark is a special optional commemorative hallmark introduced by UK assay offices in 1977 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Queen's reign. It features the side-profile head of Queen Elizabeth II facing left, set inside an oval-shaped punch as part of the full hallmark; it is struck for Birmingham 1977 together with the makers mark for the well renowned silversmith, Charles S Green & Co.
A beautiful box in excellent vintage condition, a good size and weight; 2 1/8" x 1 1/2" x 3/4" / weighing 51.5 Grams / 1.66 Troy Ounces.
