A wonderful pair of luxury vintage coasters by the iconic Maison Hermès of Paris. Made from silver plate with a stunning concentric guilloché pattern to the centre of each base both signed "Hermes, Paris" together with the makers mark for the top notch silversmith, Ravinet d'Enfert. Founded in 1845 and operating in the historic Marais district of Paris, Ravinet d'Enfert was legendary for its meticulous metalworking. During the 1950s and 1960s, Hermès partnered with them to create its finest silver tableware and bar accessories. Hermès began in 1837 when Thierry Hermès established an elite harness and saddle workshop in Paris. For its first century, the house focused entirely on equipping the European nobility with leather equestrian goods. However, as automobiles began replacing horses in the 1920s and 1930s, the family pivoted to lifestyle accessories, travel gear, and luxury home goods. This shift birthed Hermès Homeware and Barware, translating heavy saddlery techniques into elegant interior pieces. During the mid-20th century, Hermès aggressively expanded into luxury bar and desk accessories. Rather than establishing their own internal metal foundries, Hermès maintained its curated "editor" model—partnering with the absolute finest silversmiths in France. Excellent condition measuring 4 1/2" in diameter x 5/8" having been professionally cleaned and polished in our silversmith's workshop. Minimal wear commensurate with age and use.
