Description
A fabulous Art Deco silver plated Champagne bucket designed by the celebrated Luc Lanel for Christofle designed in1932. A stylish ribbed vessel with with ribbed lug handles;The pattern , called “Ondulations” was originally designed for the First Class Dining Room and Bar of the ocean liner, the S.S. Normandie . This grand ship was the ultimate in art deco interiors .
Excellent condition with very minor wear commensurate with age, measuring 9 1/2" from handle to handle x 7 1/4" x 8 1/4" tall. Fully marked on the underside: The square punch situated above the name contains the initials "OC" (standing for Orfèvrerie Christofle) flanking a tiny scale and a chess knight symbol together with a 30-gram silver plating weight specification signifying a heavy, professional-grade coating meant to survive intense daily handling.
Just back from our silversmith's workshop where it has been professionally cleaned and polished, restoring it to it's former glory
