Description

A rare and very fine hand-carved novelty match strike / table vesta in the form of a charming Monkey sporting his two glass eyes.
He holds a removable cast brass match strike to hold matches (we are unable to ship matches - display only) with the textured exterior having been used for non-safety matches to be struck. He sports his original brass hat with tassle.
Dating to the late Victorian era, it remains in superb condition with a fabulous patina. c.1890. 3 1/4" wide x 4 1/4" deep x 7 3/4" tall.
