A lovely Victorian solid / sterling silver book holder on a chain with a finger ring. Decorated with a smart linear design with a central circular cartouche to the centre of the front panel engraved with the original owners initials which look like an L and V. It was made by the highly sought-after silversmith, Sampson Mordan and Co. for the highly esteemed London retailer, J.C. Vickery and 183 Regent Street in London. J.C. Vickery was a premier British luxury goods retailer founded in London in 1890 by John Collard Vickery and Arthur Thomas Hobbs. Operating out of prestigious addresses on Regent Street, the firm specialized in high-end jewellery, silver, goldware, fine leather dressing cases, and novelty accessories, earning numerous royal warrants across Europe before closing in 1930. The firm became a favourite of elite society, securing multiple royal warrants from British and European royalty. Warrant Holders: Clients included King Edward VII, Queen Alexandra, and monarchs in Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. Good antique condition having returned from our silversmith's workshop where it was professionally cleaned and polished.
