Description
A stunning and highly desirable piece of modernist silver plate, a very stylish cocktail tray in a clean modern design with two full width handles created from cast "bamboo" handles.It is stamped "Alpaca" which refers to the nickel silver / alloy base metal which is then covered in polished silver.
The tray beautifully captures the intersection of European Mid-Century Modernism and the Hollywood Regency / Glamour movements of the 1950's and 1960's, this example is almost certainly Italian. In the 50's and 60's, faux bamboo cast in metal became the ultimate luxury accent. This exact ethos was championed by legendary 60's and 70's tastemakers like Gabriella Crespi, Gucci, and Christian Dior, who heavily popularized faux-bamboo metallic home goods.
The tray has been polished and remains in excellent vintage condition with fine micro polishing scratches to the mirror surface commensurate with age and use.
The perfect cocktail tray for the most stylish of homes measuring 17" x 11" x 1".
